Ammonium polyphosphate is a mixture of ammonium orthophosphate and various ammonium polyphosphates. The main ammonium polyphosphates contained are ammonium pyrophosphate, ammonium tripolyphosphate and ammonium tetrapolyphosphate, and only a small amount of ammonium polyphosphate with longer chain exists. Soluble in water, the solubility is greater than ammonium orthophosphate, and it can also chelate metal cations to keep them in solution.
Mflam AP220, can be used in intumescent coatings, as high efficient flame retardant.
Ammonium polyphosphate is not only used as the ingredient of various fertilizers, but also as an important chemical for extinguishing forest and mountain fires, and as a fire-retardant impregnating agent for wood.
