Mflam MPP is a highly efficient halogen-free nitrogen-phosphorus flame retardant additive based on melamine. It has the characteristics of high thermal stability, no precipitation and low water solubility.
It is suitable for nylon, glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66, and also for thermosetting and thermoplastic formulations, especially for polyurethane (PUR), and is widely used in PBT, PET, PA and other materials.
It can also be used in combination with other flame retardants to obtain better flame retardant effects.
Melamine polyphosphate decomposes endothermically above 350°C, acting as a heat sink and cooling the polymer. The released phosphoric acid further reacts with the polymer to form coke and inhibits the release of free radical gases into the oxygen phase.
At the same time, nitrogen species released by melamine degradation expand the coke, further protecting the polymer.
Melamine polyphosphate-based halogen-free flame retardants are primarily used in glass fiber reinforced polyamides and polyesters (e.g. PBT), and can also be used as synergists in many other applications and polymers.
