Melamine Cyanurate (MCA), is a halogen-free, environmentally friendly nitrogen series flame retardant with a CAS registration number of 37640-57-6. The compound is synthesized from melamine and cyanuric acid through a specific chemical reaction and has two forms: powder and granules.
Structurally, the molecular formula of melamine cyanurate is C6H9N9O3, and the molecular weight is 255.20. It has attracted widespread attention for its excellent thermal stability, low smoke, low toxicity and good flame retardant properties. When added to polymer materials such as polyamide, a dense carbonized layer can be generated under combustion conditions. This protective layer can effectively isolate oxygen, reduce the flame spread rate, and significantly reduce the smoke density and toxic gas emissions generated by combustion, especially the non-irritating hydrogen halide gas.
