Mflam 1420XL is a halogen-free intumescent flame retardant, especially used in olefin based TPE, like TPV/TPO etc, for cable & wire application.
Its main content is Piperazine pyrophosphate (PAPP), which is a polymeric intumescent flame retardant (IFR) used in various materials, especially polymers like polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). It acts as a monocomponent IFR, meaning it contains all the necessary components - acid, charring agent, and blowing agent - within its structure, promoting flame retardancy and char formation. PAPP is known for its high thermal stability and good water resistance, making it suitable for different applications.
It depends on detailed formulation and W & C system, normally ≥25%, to achieve UL94_V0, @1.6mm.
